"They were subsequently taken back into custody by force by the force from their home in the village of Ocknagbeg on 11 March 2014 and they were made to undergo extensive questioning as to the facts of the incident.
"Following that the men were made to undergo a separate interview which gave them a legal basis to appeal the ruling of the court which, as it was, gave them a legal basis to appeal the court having taken into consideration the facts of the incident and evidence given to the force by the accused."
Defence barrister Stephen Crammond said the judge "could have sent me to jail" for issuing the warrant and, in his decision, he did so "without regard for the fact that they <the>police] did a job he did not like at all".
The pair were jailed for six months, but were freed on bail after the trial and were later released.

Lebanon pm repeats surrender call to Iran
AMMAN (AP) — Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati and Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on Tuesday agreed to continue talks on the nuclear issue "after a period of appropriate time" following a meeting Tuesday night in Beirut, an Iran-affiliated newspaper reported.
The newspaper, al-Mayadeen, said talks on Iran's alleged nuclear program were supposed to resume on Oct. 27, when Saudi Arabia and France hold a summit in Paris to discuss the Middle East issue.
The Islamic republic has maintained that its nuclear program does not produce weapons — a position that is widely shared among Western powers that have helped broker the deal between Iran and six world powers, including Britain, to limit its nuclear program.
French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius will hold a series of meetings with his Saudi counterpart Prince Saud al-Faisal in the coming days to discuss "security, Syria and regional and international issues," the government said.
The French Foreign Ministry has ordered an official investigation into the matter, an official told France 24 last week.
The Saudi-led coalition also has its own concerns, U.S. State Department spokesman Mark Toner said Thursday. "It's a very complex situation," he said. "They're still trying to get to grips with the facts, but clearly they have serious concerns about the situation and are concerned."
In the latest talks in Beirut, the two leaders acknowledged that a comprehensive solution to the nuclear issue is needed. They talked about Syria, where Hezbollah has been battling Assad's government, and Iran, Syria's largest ally and major oil supplier, which controls the entire Syrian market.

Ministers reject education funding deal after spending cuts
The Government plans to reject an education funding deal from its own cross-party group after ministers failed to agree on changes to the deal.
The package, aimed at cutting £30bn of cuts to schools in the next parliament, fell apart after David Cameron, the former Conservative leader, and George Osborne tried to hammer out a new deal.
The two parties will now try to find a compromise after the two main opposition parties were criticised by a Tory MP for failing to reach agreement on funding.
Shadow Education Secretary Angela Rayner said the government's approach was "unacceptable". She said: "The education minister Michael Gove and the Chancellor George Osborne promised this budget would cut teachers' pay, but the cuts to teachers' salaries have already been too big.
"This deal will not cut pay and pensions for those who work here, it will just make it harder for more school places to be made available."

The government has since changed direction, agreeing to an all-out attack on the Scottish Government and to make £25bn of education spending cuts in a package including a crackdown on union membership.

There will also be no agreement by early next year on the future of local authority teachers' remuneration - a major sticking point for ministers after last year's devolution vote.
There will be some changes to the funding formula - which is the current base for school funding - to make it more palatable to the public, but the money to pay for it will not increase, a government spokeswoman said.
The education and justice teams are also due to publish plans to bring about a £17bn cut to the amount of public spending that is returned every year to the Treasury from public services.

The project, the largest of its kind in the country, will extend the boundaries of an already heavily utilised marine park into six open spaces, which will help protect fish habitat while improving the wildlife habitat.
The project also has the potential to transform Victoria's estuary into a vast recreational and cultural resource, says the project's chief executive, Gary Farrar.
"If we don't have one of those new habitats open up and we have an open estuary... there is an opportunity," he said.
But the development is the latest in a long list of failed attempts to expand the Victorian Marine Park Authority's jurisdiction.
In 2014, the WA Government's Department of Environment and Heritage cancelled planning permission for the project, saying environmental impacts were too complex and it could take many years to implement.
